Start with headings and lists
Put a space after #, ## or ### for a heading, or after - for a bullet item. Use the preview to check the document’s structure.
Add emphasis and links
Use bold, italic and inline code to distinguish important text. A link such as [Name](https://address) appears as linked text in the preview.
Take the finished body with you
Copy HTML to get the converted body. Your publishing service may allow different tags or styles, so check its rendering before publishing.

A worked example

Start with: # Supplies - Notebook - Pen
Check the result: A Supplies heading appears above a bullet list with Notebook and Pen.

The copied output is basic HTML for the heading and list. Pasting raw HTML is not a way to extend the document structure.
