CSV Cleaner

Trim cell edges and remove empty rows from comma-separated CSV, then write values back with quotes where needed.

Leading and trailing whitespace is removed from every cell. Columns and duplicate rows are not removed.

Check which spaces need to survive

  1. Paste comma-separated CSV

    Wrap values containing commas or line breaks in double quotes. The parser reads doubled double quotes inside quoted fields.

  2. Clean cells and empty rows

    Select Clean CSV to trim each cell and drop rows without content. Spaces at the edges of quoted values are trimmed too.

  3. Check column alignment

    Review the row and maximum-column counts and the output. Empty cells remain, so check whether all rows have the intended number of fields.

A worked example

Clean a name and note table

Start with
Header: spaced name and note · row: spaced Alice and " hello, world "
Check the result
The header becomes name,note and the row becomes Alice,"hello, world".

The comma inside the note is preserved while its edge spaces are removed. Completely empty rows are omitted.
