Compare detail as well as bytes

  1. Set a useful maximum width

Choose an image and a maximum width. Height scales in proportion, and the optimizer does not enlarge images beyond their original size.

  2. Compare format and quality

JPG and WebP support the quality slider; PNG does not use it. Converting to JPG fills transparent areas with white.

  3. Convert, inspect, and save

Run the conversion and compare dimensions, bytes, text, and edges. After changing a setting, convert again before downloading.

Halve the image width

Start with
Original: 1600×900px · maximum width: 800px · WebP
Check the result
Output dimensions are 800×450px. The resulting file size is shown after conversion.

Dimensions follow the scale calculation. The percentage saved depends on the image, format, and quality.
